Friuli Venezia Giulia golf travel - Experience unforgettable golf holidays!
The name was hyphenated as Friuli Venezia Giulia until 2001. The region is called “Friûl Vignesie Julie” in Friulian and “Furlanija Julijska krajina” in Slovenian, two languages spoken in the region. The city of Venice (“Venezia”), despite its name, is not located in this region.
Friuli Venezia Giulia has a surface area of 7,924 km2 and about 1.2 million inhabitants. As a natural opening to the sea for many Central European countries, the region is crossed by the most important traffic routes between the east and west of Southern Europe. It comprises the historical geographical region of Friuli and a small part of the historical region of Venezia Giulia – also known in English as the Julian Marche – each with its own history, tradition and identity.
The region in the north-eastern part of Italy borders on Slovenia and is also a very popular holiday destination, especially because of its beaches on the Adriatic Sea. Lignano, Grado and the enchanting harbour town of Trieste keep on attracting more and more visitors. The partly hilly hinterland is also worth a visit.
In recent years, Friuli Venezia Giulia has become a golf destination. The golf clubs Grado and Lignano are now well-known among sporty ambitious golfers. This is especially due to their extraordinary location: both are situated on a peninsula that reaches into the Adriatic Sea.
A golf holiday in Friuli-Venezia Giulia is also recommended inland. The golf club Castello di Spessa and Tarvisio deserve special mention.
After a day on the golf course or on the beach, a cosy evening in the wellness area is particularly relaxing. Afterwards, you can enjoy an excellent dinner with local delicacies.
You can experience all this at your golf hotel in Friuli-Venezia Giulia where you will find attention to quality and willingness to attend to guests’ needs.
