Golf Club Boves - Golf course information & golf holiday offers
The 18 holes of the Boves Golf Club stretch along the river Gesso and sit well against the spectacular backdrop of the Maritime Alps, only a few minutes away from the city centre of Cuneo. Opened in 1990 and designed by the Canadian architect Graham Cooke, the course offers the visitor an experience of high technical standard right here in the heart of Piedmont. The naturally rolling terrain is used to the limit so that the player can enjoy magnificent views in a naturalistic context of significant impact and a stunning natural setting, featuring the typical river undergrowth. Small lakes and streams, together with plenty of bunkers provide a very pleasant if sometimes really challenging golfing experience. The course is beautifully framed by the mountains beyond, from Monviso in the west, to the close Bisalta, a mountainous massif with the unusual shape of a pronged peak that has inspired many interesting popular tales concerning its appearance. The toughest hole here is the 4th, a hard Par 5 of 497m, that is the epitome of ‘risk and reward’ golf course design: punitive rough, delicate second shot with out of bounds on the left and water on the right. Finally, a very well guarded green. Great care has been put in the restoration of the stunning “Albertasse Vecchia” farmhouse that hosts the club-house with its American bar, conference hall and wellness centre. This is the place to come for a quiet and relaxing 18 holes. Do not miss it! Technical Details Course: 18 Hole Course, Par 72, 6018 m Architect: Graham Cooke Topography:Flat with water hazards Distinctive features: Magnificent setting, a very attractive modern course with gently undulating fairways. Technical difficulty: moderate to hard Pro’s Comments A fair and very well-balanced course. Designed by the great Canadian architect Graham Cooke, the 18 holes of Boves Golf Club follow the natural contours of this area of lower Piedmont. Accuracy is here more important than strength, in particular at the extremely delicate Hole 4 (par 5, hcp1) and Hole 14 (par 4, hcp2). Really spectacular is Hole 18, slightly uphill and with the club-house in the background. A suitable challenge for every golfer. A stimulating and enjoyable experience. Do not miss it!
