Wairakei International Golf Course

Wairakei Golf Course has been cleverly designed to blend into the surrounding native forest. Rich bird song, picturesque scenery and a unique insect-proof reserve (the first of its kind) have led to Wairakei being recognised as New Zealand’s number one golf course. This predator-free reserve provides a safe haven for fallow deer and many species of birds, including colourful pheasants, guinea fowl, Peking duck and our country’s iconic kiwi, which roam freely on the course.
