Piedmont is a region in north-west Italy, one of the 20 regions of the country. It is bordered to the south by the Region of Liguria, to the east by the Regions of Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna and to the north-west by the Region of Valle d’Aosta; to the north-east by Switzerland and to the west by France. The capital of Piedmont is Turin. Golfing in Piedmont leaves many golfers spoilt for choice, as the region offers almost 50 golf clubs. The centre of the golf holiday in Piedmont is certainly Lake Maggiore. Eight golf courses are located in this charming area. It is sometimes difficult to concentrate on your game because of the magnificent view. Golfers can expect not only good courses but also excellent Spumante wine and fine truffles. Almost all the golf hotels in Piedmont offer a delicious experience, because they place great value on sophisticated cuisine based on locally-sourced ingredients.
Hotel San Rocco ( 70 %) Hotel page
11.10.–14.10. — 3 nights, Dbl superior lake view villa gippini, BED AND BREAKFAST At the sublime San Rocco hotel the key-word “panoramic” is perfectly combined with peace of mind and relaxation. The hotel is indeed located right by the lake of one of the most beautiful, romantic, northern lakes in Italy: Lake Orta, which was once described by the French writer, Honoré de Balzac, as “a gray pearl” inside a “green treasure chest”; the hotel seems to have been built to admire this gray pearl. From the large windows of the restaurant, the breakfast room or the lounge room, you can enjoy a magnificent view on the surrounding luxuriant shores and the isle of San Giulio, right in the middle of the lake. For 150 years this historical building hosted a monastery which was transformed into a prestigious hotel in the late sixties. The main building features modern-style, generously sized rooms with parquet floor, while the “Villa Gippini” features classical-style, large rooms with marble bathrooms and marble floor. Sophisticated Piedmont specialities are served at the elegant, panoramic restaurant.
