County Cork is a great destination for golf, with some famous courses such as Old Head Links and Fota Island Resort. Other notable courses include Lee Valley Golf & Country Club, Cork Golf Club and Castlemartyr Resort. Most of Cork’s best golf courses are located in and around Cork City and Cobh. County Cork is Ireland’s largest and southernmost county, named after the city of Cork, the second largest in the state. It is part of the Province of Munster and the Southern Region. Its main towns are Mallow, Macroom, Midleton and Skibbereen. Its tourist attractions include the Blarney Stone at Blarney Castle. The port of Cobh, in County Cork, was the embarkation point for many Irish emigrants travelling to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and the United States. Fota Wildlife Park on Fota Island is also a tourist attraction.

The golf club has three championship golf courses: Original Deer Park (par 71), Belvedere (par 72) and Barry Scott (par 73). The Championship Golf Club of Cork proudly hosted the Irish Open in 2001, 2002 and 2014.

Golf club page 14.04. — green fee per player: Green fee 18 Holes (10:00) Old Head Golf Links is built on a 220 acre diamond of land that juts out over two miles into the Atlantic Ocean. It is almost an island with numerous caves beneath your feet as you play the course. The links and practice area occupy 180 acres and the remaining 40 acres of unspoilt cliffs frame the course. It is a golf course unlike any other, making many a golfer and visitor’s eyes light up as they walk through the ancient gateway with the waves of the Atlantic Ocean crashing below.
